Drummer Laura Cromwell’s résumé runs the gamut
from riot-grrrl punk to edgy downtown jazz. Her new project, Queen
Moonracer, is where she brings it all together; she claims both Albert
Ayler and the Shaggs as influences, and this stuff does an admirable
job of bridging that divide. Joining her are saxists Matthew Welch
and Briggan Krauss, and bassist Reuben Radding, all of whom know a
thing or two about this kind of eclectic skronk.
